Riverside staff and students are celebrating Treaty 7 Week right now, including multiple field studies to learn from and on this land we all call home. Completing this work not only aligns with our program expectations, but also the Truth and Reconciliation commitment our staff made, which is available on our school website on the “About Us” tab. This year marks the 149th anniversary of the signing of Treaty 7 (also known as the Blackfoot Treaty). A huge ‘thank you’ to all parent volunteers who have joined us to make this work happen! Please know we all appreciate and value your contributions to our school community.
Seeking Ravens Subject Matter Experts - to speak in classrooms
I am looking to create a catalogue of "Ravens Subject Matter Experts" - members of our parent and caregiver community that have expertise in different areas they might be willing to share with our students. Students of all ages, K-9, engage willingly and respectfully with outside experts, who often lend a unique view of the curricular objectives we teach. If you might be willing to share knowledge you have, please don't be shy – send an email to riverside@cbe.ab.ca outlining areas you might be comfortable in, and any other notes or ideas you wish to share. Please also feel free to send any inquiries by email as well. Joining our classes to share your knowledge is a great way to make connections with students, contribute to their success, but also to help meet the volunteer expectations all families commit to!
Scholastic Book Fair!
This year's book fair will take place September 21-24. The fair will run during the Meet the Teacher evening. Students will have the opportunity to purchase items throughout the week. Book fairs are one of our foremost fundraising opportunities for our Learning Commons, in addition to being a pile of fun. We have raised thousands of dollars for the purchase of new reading materials over the years, and when we reach a net sales amount of $6000, we receive half of the sales back as credit to purchase new books!
Riverside Parent Society Annual General Meeting – October 15
Mark your calendars! Our Annual General Meeting (AGM) will take place on October 15th during our regular Parent Society Meeting.
We’ll be looking back at the 2025/2026 school year, including what we accomplished together, how funds were used, and what’s ahead for our school community.
The entire parent body is welcome — and encouraged — to join us! Your voice, ideas and involvement help shape what happens at Riverside and the experiences we create for our students.
Whether you’ve been involved all year or this is your first meeting, come be part of the conversation and help make an impact on our students and school community.

Our first Bottle Drive is October 15. All students who bring a bag of bottles will receive a small treat and have their name entered into a draw for a class popcorn party.
The funds raised will go towards school council funded activities throughout the year such as field study bussing, the Grade 9 graduation, staff appreciation lunch, Terry Fox carrots, athletics banquet, activity day supplies, groceries for Riverside families in need and so much more!!
