Each and every day, we are so proud of our students here at Riverside, and always impressed with their efforts.

Please see below for a message from the Calgary Board of Education:

Dear Parents / Guardians,

Child and Youth Well-Being:

A Webinar Series for Parents and Guardians

CBE educators believe that parents and guardians can inspire their kids to make healthy lifestyle choices and increase protective factors – in order to do so, they need the right tools and information.

Well-being is a precondition for learning. As our understanding of student well-being continues to evolve, it is important for those that support children and youth to stay up to date on the same information so everyone can support student success.

The intention of the series is to advance student well-being by raising family and caregiver’s understanding of a variety of health-related topics.

Volunteer information

Parents, if you have not yet completed the electronic form to provide our Volunteer Coordinator permission to use your contact information to share information about field studies, please do so when you have an opportunity.  The form can be accessed by clicking here.

Secondly, it's that time again - our biggest fundraiser of the year is our casino nights. In return for volunteering our time we receive a portion of the proceeds. Usually, every casino returns around $80 000 to the Riverside Parent Society to be spent on educational items that benefit the entire school. This year's casino will be on January 19th and 20th at The Ace Casino near the airport. Our volunteer website is currently being updated and a link provided in the next weekly update with more information and to sign up for volunteering.

Parking lot request(s)

A reminder that the parking lot on the north side of 1st Avenue is not to be used for dropping off or picking up students from school each day.  Thank you for understanding that adding vehicles to the situation when students are entering and exiting the school is a safety concern.

Additionally, I have received word from the CBE that construction work at Riverside Bungalow (from a third-party lessee) is ongoing, and the project will require use of the parking lot near that building effective October 1.  This space will no longer be available for use after that date.

Thank you, as always, for your support. From all of us at Riverside School, we wish you and your family a tremendous Thanksgiving weekend!
