Student Learning Conferences is not only a signpost in the progress in a school year, but more importantly is an opportunity for us to get together as a community to recognize the hard work our students do each day to learn new concepts, and to update their families on the progress they are making. We’re really excited to host you all over the next two days and look forward to welcoming you into the school for these important meetings. If you are unable to book a time with your child’s teacher, please reach out to them directly to organize a separate time to meet.

Also, a huge congratulations to our boys and girls basketball teams and their coaches for their victories in the divisional final games held last Friday afternoon at Crescent Heights High School! It has been amazing watching out teams come together this year. Typically, this would be the end of the season for our basketball teams, however, this year a city-wide Tournament of Champions has been organized so our teams will continue playing next week. Both boys and girls teams will play on Wednesday, November 29 in their quarterfinal games.

Upcoming McCarthy Uniform purchasing window AND 25% off sale

McCarthy Uniforms reached out to let me know that they will be holding an ‘up to 25% off sale’ and wanted to know if I wanted them to open our purchasing window earlier than previously published. I said “yes!” very quickly. So, the purchasing window for uniform items will open again effective November 27 and will remain open until January 26. Please see below for specific information about this:

November 27-December 20 – up to 25% off uniform items from McCarthy Uniforms

December 21-January 26 – purchasing window remains open but all items are regularly priced

As I have mentioned previously, if your child needs new uniform items but you need support at the moment, please reach out to me directly and I’ll be happy to discuss with you.

Update on Riverside team names from the Student Advisory Council

Ms. Yu and I met with our Student Advisory Council last Thursday to begin the process of shortlisting the literal hundreds of suggestions our students provided through their classroom work. We think we’ve narrowed things down to “dozens” but will spend some time compiling their ideas over the next while. We were very impressed with both the quantity and quality of ideas our students shared. While we are a little behind the initial timeline we shared with you, the general steps of the process will remain the same and I assure you we will communicate with you each step of the way!

Annual plant fundraiser information

Please see below for a message from our Parent Society:

“It's that time of year! The Riverside Growing Smiles Christmas plant sale is happening again. We are selling a variety of beautiful plants and arrangements to raise money to support initiatives at our school. Orders are due by November 26th and  will be available for pickup at the school. Orders can be placed online with credit card payment at https://riverside.growingsmile.... Please note that the cutoff is Sunday November 26 at 11:59pm. Additionally, we would need some volunteers to help with receiving and pickup. We would need about 3 volunteers to receive the orders on December 12th and about 3 or 4 volunteers on the morning and afternoon of December 13th. If parents are available please email us at parentsociety.riverside@gmail.com. Thank you for your continued support!”

We are all looking forward to seeing you at Student Learning Conferences tomorrow and Friday!
