A pretty light week of updates given that the school was closed for most of the last week! On November 9, Riverside hosted our colleagues from four other Science Alternative Program schools for a day of learning focused on Indigenous Education, including promoting a sense of belonging, and braiding together Indigenous and Western approached to Science. There was lots of tremendous feedback from the day!

Also, a reminder that this month’s School Council and Parent Society meetings will take place tomorrow (Thursday) at 7:00 in the Learning Commons.

Please see below for a message from our Parent Society:

“It's that time of year! The Riverside Growing Smiles Christmas plant sale is happening again. We are selling a variety of beautiful plants and arrangements to raise money to support initiatives at our school. Orders are due by November 26th and will be available for pickup at the school. Orders can be placed online with credit card payment at https://riverside.growingsmile.... If you have any questions please email us at parentsociety.riverside@gmail.com. Thank you for your continued support!”

A Quick Reminder …

A quick reminder, families, to kindly check your MyCBE account while your children are on Fall Break as there are currently $27,000 in unpaid fees on record at our school, representing over 60% of total fees charged this year.

If your family is in need of support or assistance in making payments, or if you have any questions, please feel free to contact our main office at riverside@cbe.ab.ca.  Thank you for your attention to this.

Morning Routines at Riverside

With the weather turning, we have seen a significant uptick in the number of students checking in late at the office each day.  Of course, we are happy to see our students whenever they arrive, but we have been filling 4 pages in our attendance binder most mornings, and the missed learning time really adds up!  We know that it can take a little bit longer to bundle up in mornings (or to get out of bed, at times) - so we thank you all – students, parents and guardians – for adjusting so that fewer students are late each day.

Also, a quick reminder that the area in front of the school on 6A Street is a bus zone, and parents, guardians, and caregivers should not be using the bus zones for drop off in the morning or pick up in the afternoon.  Thank you very much.

Wishing you all a pleasant short week!
