Happy New Year from all of us at Riverside School! It has been wonderful to see our students back in the building and to hear their stories of their time away. Students picked right up where they left off before the break. We are getting excited for some major celebrations happening in our school over the next month or so, beginning with Kid Inventor Day next Wednesday. 

 

Urgent request regarding student pick-up and drop-off 

 

A number of Riverside students have mobility challenges, and a majority of them are brought to and from the school via school bus. Please leave the area in the bus zone clear each day so that these students have as short a distance to get into the school as possible.  

 

I know that the weather has turned, but it would be greatly appreciated if parents could drop their children off as far up 6A Street as possible, or perhaps even on Centre Ave. While each pick-up and drop-off can be very short, the volume of them really adds up and is impactful on the bus zone.

Kid Inventor Day updates 

 

On January 17, Riverside will host Kid Inventor Day, and students will be building with cardboard! We’ve received many donations of cardboard from the community for students to use during this activity, and welcome any further donations that might come in over the next week. Please ask students to drop any donated cardboard off at the main office. We will happily take in any of the cardboard that might be lingering at home after the holiday season.

January School Council and Parent Society meeting 

 

During this month’s School Council meeting, I will be presenting our work with some foundational documents for Riverside School: our School Improvement Results Report and School Development Plan.  A copy of this document is available by clicking hereclicking here.  I really encourage as many families as possible to join for this discussion as this document reflects the commitments we are making as a staff to our students and describes the key areas we wish to focus on for this school year.  As our partners in education, we will value your thoughts, ideas, and questions.
