Athletics - See updates on our Athletics Page
There’s always something exciting happening in this community, and this past week has been no exception. We’ve had the excitement of getting back together with veteran Riverside families and also meeting new families, and the pride of seeing our students show off their work in our community. There’s exciting work happening in each classroom every day, and I have been so thankful to be a part of that excitement, whether it’s Kindergarten students engaging in their first ‘letter sound’ literacy activity or Grade 9 students practicing leadership in our community.
Speaking of exciting – our new gaga ball pit has been installed today. A huge thank you to our School Council and Parent Society for helping us make that happen. Our athletics jerseys are on their way, which is another form of excitement, as we continue this journey of becoming The Ravens this school year.
And, of course, the excitement of a Book Fair (no matter your age). A huge thank you to the incomparable Ms. Dixon for all her hard work to get the fair going, to the volunteers who supported her in meeting the huge demand for books and other fun items, and also to our broader community. Your purchases – a 25% increase over last year – will go directly toward adding new and exciting reading materials in our Learning Commons.

Riverside Social-Emotional Learning Team
During October’s School Council meeting, Mr. Sticksl discussed our initial work to set up a team to address social-emotional learning across grades at our school. We’re hoping for a made-in-Riverside approach to address this incredibly important aspect of education and how we might best support our great kids in developing those skills.
We are hoping to include members of all parts of our school community, including staff, students, and their families, in this important work. In the coming weeks, we’ll get together to start charting a path forward. If you are interested in volunteering your time on this team, please reply to riverside@cbe.ab.ca to express your interest. Thank you so much for your consideration!
From School Council re: Silent Auction Fundraiser
Please review the message below from our School Council:
“Riverside School Council and Parent Society will be organizing an online silent auction that will run from November 1 until November 22. If you have an item you'd like to donate for the auction, please reach out to School Council before November 1st at schoolcouncil.riverside@gmail.com.
We will also be holding a bottle drive on October 17th from 7:30 am-5:00 pm in the parking lot by the bridge. Each bag of cans/bottles will equal one ticket for your child’s class. We will draw two tickets to win a classroom pizza party!
Thank you so much for your continued support!”
