Riverside staff has been busy analyzing and reviewing student data from last school year, using it to draft our annual School Improvement Results Report and School Development Plan.  I will look forward to sharing this information with you during the month of November and to discussing it with you at that month’s School Council and Parent Society meetings.  Great things happen at Riverside School due to the strength of our community and the passion of its members.  Each day, we continue the work of making our amazing community even better!

Our inaugural Riverside Rumble basketball tournament will take place from Wednesday, October 23 through Saturday, October 26.  I am so excited for our school to have this opportunity to host 7 other schools in the spirit of friendly competition and learning over that time.  Many thanks to all those involved in getting this event off the ground.  While they are certainly a great deal of work, I believe events like this pay huge dividends in school culture.  Hope to see many of your at our home games for both the boys and girls!

Ongoing impacts of City of Calgary Main Street project along 1st Avenue

The City of Calgary has informed me that they have taken steps to ensure greater access to our parking lot and compound area after some significant disruption yesterday.  I remain grateful to them for their responsiveness to our school needs.

If you have any questions or concerns about this ongoing project (which I understand should be ongoing for a few more weeks), I encourage you to reach out to them by calling 311 or using the 311 app.

From School Council re: Bottle Drive and Silent Auction Fundraiser

Please review the message below from our School Council:

“Riverside School Council and Parent Society will be organizing an online silent auction that will run from November 1 until November 22. If you have an item you'd like to donate for the auction, please reach out to School Council before November 1st at schoolcouncil.riverside@gmail.com.

We will also be holding a bottle drive on October 17th from 7:30 am-5:00 pm in the parking lot by the bridge. Each bag of cans/bottles will equal one ticket for your child’s class. We will draw two tickets to win a classroom pizza party!

Thank you so much for your continued support!”
