Athletics - See updates on our Athletics Page

We are definitely getting back into the groove here at school.  Teachers have enjoyed getting reacquainted with their students, and we are hoping – and believing! - that the feeling is mutual.   Part of that process will be our typical Student Learning Conferences, which will be held at the end of the month.  These conferences are a tremendous opportunity for students, their caregivers, and teachers to discuss learning progress and goals moving forward.  Please stay tuned to these weekly messages for more information about booking conferences as we get closer.

Pedestrian bridge repair updates

Thank you to our students, their families, and our staff for their flexibility in managing the repair work being completed for our pedestrian bridge.  The issue being resolved relates to water drainage from the bridge; inadequate drainage was leading to damage inside some classrooms.

I will have more specific information to share after a meeting later this week, but I understand that, like many projects, beginning the project led to more work needing completion than expected.  I anticipate the timeline for this project’s completion to be weeks into the future, but I will continue to update as more information is available.

A special thank-you and shout out to all the parent volunteers who have joined us to serve as crossing guards!  You’re doing a great job!

School Council updates: November meeting, bottle drive, and more!

Our November School Council and Parent Society meetings will take place on Thursday, November 20 at 700PM in the Learning Commons.  These meetings are a great opportunity to be involved in our school community and to engage in work to enhance learning opportunities for Riverside students.  Joining our meetings does not obligate you to take on any work or join any committees!  Our November meetings will also serve as the Annual General Meetings for each group.

Our bottle drive will be Thursday, November 6 from 730 until 9 AM and 230 until 5 PM. Students have a chance to win a class popcorn party!! We will also have participation prizes, name draws, and we are so excited to see everyone!

As we did last year, our School Council is running a silent auction as a fundraiser for our school. If you are interested in donating to our online auction, please reach out to School council at schoolcouncil.riverside@gmail.com.  Stay tuned to these update messages for more information.

With the ongoing construction of the bridge, we have a sign-up genius for parents to help out with the crosswalk each day. If you can volunteer for a shift or two, please sign up through this link.

Update regarding this year’s Remembrance Day observance

We want to share an important update about how we will recognize Remembrance Day this year. Right now, our top priority is teaching and learning in the classroom. In previous years, we have hosted two Remembrance Day assemblies in our main gym for students, families and community members. This year, we will instead hold a short observance over the PA system. This approach allows teachers to continue focusing on learning, while ensuring we still take time to honour this important day.

Thank you for your continued support,

Steve Radder, Principal
