It is a sure sign of the approaching finish to the 2023-24 school year that the list of events above includes the entire month of June. We’re no less busy here at the school these days – lots of high-impact learning taking place, plenty of field studies, and, yes – plenty of planning for the new school year. I’ll share more details about the 2024-25 school year in a Summer Newsletter on June 26, but please feel free to contact our main office with any queries. 

I had an opportunity to visit our Grade 5 and 7 students at Camp Chief Hector yesterday afternoon. I was very proud to see our students purposefully engaging with the learning at this field study. Yes, they were having a load of fun, but they were also being thoughtful about their experiences and attentive to the lessons they were provided. Work like this cannot be successful without the shared work of parents and all caregivers, the skilled staff of Riverside School, and the amazing students in our community! 

I also enjoyed a chance to welcome new Riverside families at the New Families Orientation last week, and the subsequent Kindergarten Orientation hosted by Ms. Copot on Friday. It’s an exciting time of year on so many counts! 

Riverside School Team Name engagement update! 

I am excited to begin the final phase of the selection process for new team names at Riverside school.  Over the coming weeks, staff and students will be voting on their preferred team name.  I would like to offer our broader community (one vote per household, please!) to offer their input into this essential part of our school identity.  Your choices are Riverside Rapids, Riverside Ravens, and Riverside Rockies.

Parent-Sponsored used uniform sale 

Plans are underway for a used uniform sale, to take place during the final week of the school year.  I understand this was a tradition at our school for many years prior to my appointment as Principal, and I am thankful that it will resume.  I will share more details about this initiative when they are finalized!
