I hope that everyone had a tremendous and restful long weekend – our final one of this school year. It is difficult to believe we are at that point, but the calendar dates above definitely suggest it is the case. I’m excited to host our New Families Orientation tomorrow evening as a first step welcoming new Riverside students into this community. Our Grade 9s had a tremendous and successful overnight field study to Camp Horizon last week, and our Grade 5, 6 and 7 students are getting ready for their turns in the coming weeks. 

Riverside School Team Name engagement update! 

 I am excited to begin the final phase of the selection process for new team names at Riverside school. Over the coming weeks, staff and students will be voting on their preferred team name. I would like to offer our broader community (one vote per household, please!) to offer their input into this essential part of our school identity. Your choices are Riverside Rapids, Riverside Ravens, and Riverside Rockies.

Riverside School Council and Parent Society updates 

 Thank you to the members of our School Council and Parent Society for their support in approving approximately $25,000 of funding to support educational initiatives in our school using funds raised through AGLC (Casino) activities. Staff were all thrilled to hear the news and are eagerly working on their orders to get these funds (and the resources they will provide) into the hands of our students.  

While the May meeting, held last week, was our final meeting for the school year, I will look forward to seeing both new and familiar faces at our first meeting of the new school year! 

Parent-Sponsored used uniform sale 

Plans are underway for a used uniform sale, to take place during the final week of the school year.  I understand this was a tradition at our school for many years prior to my appointment as Principal, and I am thankful that it will resume.  I will share more details about this initiative when they are finalized!
