This has been a week full of empty classrooms with students out and about on various field studies! Whether our afternoon Kindergartens joining our Grade 8 Outdoor Education class, our Grade 3s at the Wilder Institute at the Calgary Zoo, our Grade 2s at the Zoo, Grade 8s at Ralph Klein Park, Grade 1st at Golden Acre Garden Centre, or our 9s at Camp Horizon for their overnight trip, there’s been a lot of excitement in the air. I’m grateful to all parent volunteers for your support of these meaningful and rich activities, and for Riverside staff for doing the planning work needed to get these trips off the ground!
School fees update and request
There are currently unpaid school fees totaling approximately $80,000 at our school. Please take a moment to check your myCBE/PowerSchool account and resolve any unpaid fees listed. If you have questions about fees posted to your account, please reach out to our office staff who will be happy to direct your query. I’m aware that we are all under financial pressures, so please reach out to the school if you need any assistance with these fees; we will be happy to help. Thank you for your help!
School Council and Parent Society updates
During my administration report for this month’s meetings, I will be providing updates on staffing and resourcing for 2024-25, additional information on funding requests that are both new and ongoing, and sharing news about our progress toward meeting our School Development Plan goals for the year. I look forward to seeing as many Riverside families represented at this meeting as possible!
Our School Council and Parent Society currently have two vacancies for the 2024-25 school year: Secretary and Naturalization Area Coordinator. Elections for these positions will take place during May’s meetings (Thursday, May 16 at 7:00PM).
Parent-Sponsored used uniform sale
Plans are underway for a used uniform sale, to take place during the final week of the school year. I understand this was a tradition at our school for many years prior to my appointment as Principal, and I am thankful that it will resume. I will share more details about this initiative when they are finalized!
