Another amazing school year is coming to an end.  This is a time of reflection and celebration, while also recognizing that we are saying ‘farewell’ to valued members of our school community, both on our staff and in our student population.  It’s the people who are part of our community that make Riverside such an amazing place of learning.  If you are leaving Riverside School at the end of this year, we wish you the very best wherever your journey takes you next.

Our main office (and school) will close for the summer at noon on Friday of this week.  Staff will be enjoying a well-deserved break and will respond to any queries you might send over the summer months when they return in late August.  The office will reopen at 9:00 on August 26.

On behalf of our entire staff, thank you for a wonderful school year.  Our students benefit greatly from the partnership between home and school.  We also wish your families a restful, enjoyable, and safe summer!

Report cards

Parents and guardians, please note that end-of-year report cards were published today, and are available for viewing through your MyCBE/PowerSchool account.  If you have questions about the information presented in the report card, please contact your child’s teacher directly via email.

Staffing updates

I am pleased to share the following staffing updates that pertain to Riverside for the 2025-26 school year:

Congratulations to Florence Lam and Kayla Koshynsky, who have accepted transfers to other schools for next year.  Ms. Lam is on her way to Dr. George Stanley School, while Ms. Koshynsky will join the staff at Rideau Park School.  Thank you for all your work on behalf of Riverside students during your time with us!

Congratulations also to Zalisha Ali for securing a contract with Glamorgan School next year.  Ms. Ali filled in admirably for Ms. Warne during her maternity leave this year, and fit in very well at our school.

I am thankful that Jack Delay has accepted a contract to remain at Riverside for next year, teaching in the Grade 8 Generalist role.  Jack has been a tremendous addition to our staff and I look forward to seeing him in this new role.

Some staffing work takes place in August, largely relating to temporary contracts to fill a leave.  As soon as I have information to share about any such potential positions, I will pass it along.

Riverside School summer newsletter

We have prepared a short newsletter with items of interest prior to our return to school in August.  You can find this summer newsletter on the Riverside website, or by clicking here.  We’ve tried to anticipate questions that might come up in the weeks prior to the main office reopening.  We hope you find the newsletter helpful!  Your feedback is appreciated.

Upcoming uniform sale windows

McCarthy Uniforms will be opening their online store to order uniform pieces again during the following window: July 2 – October 31.  Please contact McCarthy Uniforms directly if you have any questions about this.  If you have concerns about the financial aspect of the uniform expectations, please contact school administration directly.

Thank you – as always – for your great support and partnership!  Wishing everyone a tremendous summer break full of fun!
