I know that the entire community is excited to hear of the new team name for Riverside School that was voted on over the last couple of weeks. We’ll share our new identity with students during next week’s Activity Day, and also share the news with families in the weekly update for next week. 

Please also encourage your child to look through our Lost and Found for any of their ‘left behind’ items as they will be bagged up and donated after the last day of classes.  There’s many uniform tops of all sizes in the lost and found, along with several other items. 

Grade 6 and 9 students are in the midst of writing their Provincial Achievement Tests this week. They’ve been showing off their knowledge through this work, while also being supportive and kind to each other throughout the process.  

Parent-Sponsored used uniform sale 

Plans are underway for a used uniform sale, to take place during the final week of the school year, specifically on June 25, starting at 3:00.  I understand this was a tradition at our school for many years prior to my appointment as Principal, and I am thankful that it will resume.   

Families can begin sending in used uniform items to the school effective next Monday (June 17).   A reminder that next week will be “Free Dress” for the entire week of classes.   Volunteers will be sorting and organizing items leading up to the sale.  We will assume that all items being sent in are being donated by families, and we thank you for your support.  All proceeds raised from this uniform sale will be used to provide uniform items to students whose families need financial assistance in the future. 

If you are hoping to have your used uniform items sold on a ‘consignment’ basis, please reach out to our School Council directly via email at schoolcouncil.riverside@gmail.com.   

Items for sale will be priced as follows: t-shirts, and polo shirts (both short- and long-sleeved) $5; hoodies, sweatshirts, and zip-up hoodies $10.
