It’s been a busy week at Riverside, with our Farewell celebrations for Grade 9 students.  It was a tremendous event largely organized by students and staff – with heavy support from our School Council!  This is such a special event for our school with so many students being here for 10 years.  We all wish them the greatest successes as they transition to high school.

Our Grade 6 and 9 students have been ‘showing off what they know’ via Provincial Achievement Tests over the last few days.  Thank you to all staff and students who have worked hard to ensure their peers can write in a quiet and calm environment.

Finally, a reminder that our summer Activity Day will take place on Monday of next week.  Large portions of this day are scheduled to be outside – so students should be prepared for the weather as appropriate.

Free Dress Next Week and Used Uniform Sale – June 23 at 3:00 (Learning Commons)

Plans are underway for a used uniform sale, to take place during the final week of the school year, specifically on June 23, starting at 3:00.

Families can begin sending in used uniform items to the school effective Monday, June 16.   A reminder that the final week of classes (June 23-27) will be “Free Dress” for the entire week of classes.   Volunteers will be sorting and organizing items leading up to the sale.  We will assume that all items being sent in are being donated by families, and we thank you for your support.  All proceeds raised from this uniform sale will be used to provide uniform items to students whose families need financial assistance in the future.

If you are hoping to have your used uniform items sold on a ‘consignment’ basis, please reach out to our School Council directly via email at schoolcouncil.riverside@gmail.com.

Items for sale will be priced as follows: t-shirts, and polo shirts (both short- and long-sleeved) $5; hoodies, sweatshirts, and zip-up hoodies $10.  Please keep in mind that there will be a limited supply of uniforms available as we have only had our new uniform pieces for 2 years!

Learning Commons update – Please return all materials!  And ... Book Fair next year

Ms. Dixon kindly requests your support in ensuring any materials from our LEarning Commons that have made their way home be returned to the school as soon as possible!  Please check backpacks, bedrooms, or any other hiding spots at home for these materials.

Also – our Book Fair for next year will take place September 9-12 during school hours and open in the afternoon/evening of September 11 and 12 for families to peruse.  This year’s support was amazing – leading to $4000 of new books for our Learning Commons!

Yearbooks available for purchase next week – Wednesday, June 25

We will be distributing yearbooks to students on Wednesday of next week if their families purchased a copy.  We have a handful of extra copies for purchase in the Main Office for $36 but ask for cash payments, in exact amounts.  The last day to purchase yearbooks will be Tuesday, June 24, or whenever the last copy is purchased (first-come, first-served).

Thank you for your continued support,

Steve Radder, Principal
