It is great to see students and staff back in the school after a well-earned Winter Break! I hope that all Riverside families enjoyed a restful and happy time. I also wish everyone all the best in 2026.
Teachers are fully involved in writing report card comments to share news about student achievement, strengths, and next steps for the remainder of the school year. Report cards will be available in early February.
Students in Grade 7-9 are also in the midst of trying out for our Ravens Volleyball teams. It is tremendous to get this important aspect of school culture back up and running. It is a very energetic time at our school, and that won’t be letting up any time soon!
2026-27 School Year registration
We are approaching the time of year when families can register for the next school year. The registration window for the 2026-27 lottery is January 12 through February 10 at noon. Parents of current Riverside students do not need to take any action to maintain enrolment for next year, however any new students must be registered. The “How To Register” page on our school website has plenty of information about this, along with a helpful presentation about this process, which can be accessed by clicking here.
School Council and Parent Society updates
Our January School Council and Parent Society meeting will take place at 7:00 on Thursday, January 15 in our Learning Commons. During this meeting, I will share updates on some ongoing capital projects at our school including window replacement and a new video camera installation at Riverside.
Attending School Council and Parent Society meetings is a great way to get involved in our school community, have a say in our programming, and partner with staff to make our school even greater than it already is! Joining these meetings does not obligate you to volunteer or take on additional work. If you’ve never joined us, please feel very welcome to join.
The silent auction fundraiser held prior to Winter Break was a great success – raising $8150 to enhance programming at Riverside School! Thank you to the organizers for this work and to all families who contributed.
Thank you for your continued support,
Steve Radder, Principal
