Thank you all for your kind words and support during my recent absence. I’m back at work and feeling much better – and slowly digging out from the pile of missed/delayed work I left myself!
As always, it is a busy and exciting time here at Riverside. Our Boys and Girls volleyball teams are underway, led by Mr. Smith/Ms. Kjellbotn and Mr. Koch, respectively. We are all eagerly gearing up for next week’s Science Olympics celebration as well, with students designing their flags and preparing for the big day.
Of course, there is also the upcoming “Tape A Teacher” activity that will take place during Riverside Time on Friday of this week. Mr. Price, Mr. Shane, Mr. Delay, myself, and a SURPRISE TEACHER will be getting taped to a wall in our school. All students can bring in $1 for a strip of tape (1 strip for $1), with all proceeds being donated to the Fear Is Not Love emergency shelter, which we have a longstanding partnership with.
2026-27 School Year registration
We are approaching the time of year when families can register for the next school year. The registration window for the 2026-27 lottery is January 12 through February 10 at noon. Parents of current Riverside students do not need to take any action to maintain enrolment for next year, however any new students must be registered. The “How To Register” page on our school website has plenty of information about this, along with a helpful presentation about this process, which can be accessed by clicking here.
Yearbook updates
School yearbooks are available for purchase. This year the K-9 hardcover colour book will have a “Through the Decades” theme! The price for yearbooks is $35. Please order at: https://jostensyearbooks.com/?REF=A01118549
School Council and Parent Society updates
Our February School Council and Parent Society meeting will take place at 7:00 on Thursday, February 19 in our Learning Commons.
Attending School Council and Parent Society meetings is a great way to get involved in our school community, have a say in our programming, and partner with staff to make our school even greater than it already is! Joining these meetings does not obligate you to volunteer or take on additional work. If you’ve never joined us, please feel very welcome to join.
Thank you for your continued support,
Steve Radder, Principal
Riverside School
