Science Olympics was a wonderful event. Our students completed engineering challenges and worked collaboratively to solve problems. The energy in the building was tremendous. A great (and tiring) day!
School Council and Parent Society updates - Learning opportunity and upcoming meeting agenda
I am hoping to see many Riverside parents and guardians at tonight's School Council and Parent Society meetings. During my administration report, I will be sharing details about this year's school budget and initial ideas for next year's planning. I will also be sharing a link to a survey for all Riverside families to share their thoughts on what our priorities should be in the areas of budgeting and school development for the next school year. We will meet at 7:00!
The Riverside Parent Society will share information about our exciting gaga ball pit project and the spring plant sale fundraiser during their portion of the meeting time.
Riverside School Council will be hosting a learning opportunity for parents and guardians on the evening of March 12. The presentation will discuss addressing anxiety and resiliency in today's youth. A short bio of the presenter is below.

High School registration process
Thank you to all parents who were able to attend the High School Information Session Ms. Yu and I offered last night. It was great to speak with you and to answer your questions. If you would like a copy of the presentation materials that were shared, please email me directly and I'll get a copy to you.
A reminder that the CBE's transfer window for students to seek transfer from their designated high school to a preferred school has opened. It will close on March 15. This deadline is not flexible. Remember that there are two valid reasons for transfer requests: address change or for programming reasons. If you need any support with this, please do not hesitate to reach out to Ms. Yu or myself. We are happy to help!
The CBE very strongly recommends that students register at and select classes at their designated school even if they are seeking transfer. This will help ensure the greatest possible programming fit for them as they enter high school.
More information about the transfer and registration process can be found here: https://cbe.ab.ca/registration/transfers/Pages/default.aspx.
Vaping Awareness and Prevention | Family and Caregiver Session
Join the Alberta Health Services Healthy Schools and Population Health Promotion team on Wednesday, March 6 from 7 - 8:30 p.m. for a virtual parent learning session on the youth vaping epidemic.
In this session, parents will learn about what vaping is, current vaping trends among youth and the harms and risks associated with it. We'll explore what legislation is in place at the local and provincial level to combat youth vaping use and what you and your child's school can do about it. Ideas on how to talk to kids and help them quit, as well as where to go for more information will also be covered.

Thank you very much, as always, for all of your support!
