Congratulations to those Grade 6-9 students who were selected to represent Riverside on our badminton teams for this year!  Our student athletes always do a tremendous job of showcasing their skill and talent.  The remaining school teams that will compete this year are Track and Field and Flag Football.  More details about practice and tryout schedules will be forthcoming.

Our school received supplementary funding from Alberta Education to hire a “classroom complexity” teacher recently, and I am pleased to let you know that I have been able to staff the position.  Jean-Noel Brodland has joined our staff – I am pleased to have him with us more permanently as “Mr. B” has been a regular substitute teacher for us.  This funding will fund his position until the end of the school year.  Mr. Brodland will join our learning interventions team and support this work to fill in learning gaps among our K-6 students.  I will speak to this in greater detail at this week’s School Council meeting.

Spring uniform purchasing window

McCarthy Uniforms recently shared a reminder that the uniform purchasing window for the spring will open on April 15th and will end on May 31st. This will be the final opportunity to purchase uniform items for the 25-26 school year.

Parking restrictions on 6 Street

The City of Calgary sent a notification to the school this morning indicating that, due to the ongoing utility construction work near our school, they will be restricting parking on 6 Street between 1 Avenue and Marsh Road.  Thus, they will not permit parking in that area for about 8 weeks, effective April 20.

School Council and Parent Society updates

Our April School Council and Parent Society meeting will take place at 7:00PM on tomorrow in our Learning Commons.

Attending School Council and Parent Society meetings is a great way to get involved in our school community, have a say in our programming, and partner with staff to make our school even greater than it already is!  Joining these meetings does not obligate you to volunteer or take on additional work.  If you’ve never joined us, please feel very welcome to join.

Yearbook updates

School yearbooks are available for purchase. This year the K-9 hardcover colour book will have a “Through the Decades” theme! The price for yearbooks is $35. Please order at: https://jostensyearbooks.com/?REF=A01118549
